Dear us Black people, LET THIS BE THE LAST TIME

Dear us black people
What you are about to read is not new news to us, it is a wake up call
These are not new words/actions to us all, we have heard AND done it all before!
And I am sick and tired of being sick and tired!
No time is good time to say what most of us don’t want to hear especially now! but... Is this the time we finally listen and DO BETTER?
I am angry at us and angry for us
I am ANGRY AT US because of..
Black on black violence
Black on black mugging
Black on black killing
Black on black disrespect
Black on black crime
Black on black RACISM
We don’t help or do better amongst ourselves
How will they treat us better when we don’t treat each other better?
How will they respect us when we don’t respect each other?
How will we grow if we don’t uplift each other?
How will they STOP with the racism when we fight the racism with racism?
How will we have a voice when we CHOOSE not to vote because think we cannot win the fight?
How many fights have we won before just by coming together?
Have we forgotten the history of our WARRIORS, the history of our journey?
We don’t come together until shit has hit the fun.
Why and what is the fight in America for? What’s the end game? Do we know? Is the riots only for the justice of #GeorgeFloyd and many other black lives that have been lost due to police brutality or is it the general racism that is still very active in all levels of the society? What is it?
And how are we doing it? Is it by going to the streets destroying everything we get our hands on?
We cannot destroy black owned businesses in black owned communities
we know the struggle, the pain, the sweat and tears that many black owned businesses go through
We have to work 10 times more, 10 times harder to get to where little that we are!
It’s your home too, you cannot destroy it
Select the leaders based on merit, Vote vote vote, sign petitions, attend community meetings, speak up.
I am ANGRY FOR US because
We the black people are the heart of the world, we have love, compassion and forgiveness in our hearts
We have time and time again forgiven our oppressors
We have time and time again let things go so we can move forward and rebuild
We have all this anger inside us rightfully so because our kindness has been spat on time and time again
We have this frustrations because the agreements we make are broken time and time again
We are angry, frustrated, disappointed and fed up because of no change time and time again
Let this fight be our last fight. We are fighting during an era when we are most courageous, when we are most empowered, when we are most supported and when we are most educated!

Comments

  1. We need permanent change. We can’t keep fighting the same fight over and over again.

Show me who your friends are and I'll tell you who you are Is dead to me

The world we live in right now is very socially constructed and the phrase “Show me who your friends are and I'll tell you who you” is very popular in every society. I have believed this phrase to be true for a very long time. This is until I interacted with different people from different societies, beliefs and of different religion.  The environment we grow in really shapes the kind of people we become. The way of life our societies are accustomed to shapes the people we become. Even the families we grow up in shape who we are. Do not get me wrong... the phrase has a lot of truth to it especially if its easy for you to fall victim of peer pressure for example becoming a thief or drug user if you hang around such characters.  But the basis of this writing is based off of human understanding. I feel that it’s important to understand people individually because each person has a story of what makes them who they are.  If you remain conscious to human understanding the...

STILL I STAND

"I was sexually assaulted!" How do i even say it to my parents and mates? How do i start the conversation? Yes i was drunk.. Will they understand? I only had one glass of vodka diluted with sprite Was i drugged? What did the culprit add in my drink? You were my friend, of course you can stay over We were both drunk anyway.. but you were conscious I trusted you to get me home safe Do you even realize what you did? To be honest, i myself just recently discovered that it was assault (years later) Why did i let it happen? Was it my fault? I carry the hurt, shame and a secret that is soo hard to tell I forgave you and still kept you as a friend Our society is not open to such conversations, so how do i hold a grudge when YOU don't know any better? Dear African girl, i am sorry you have to endure and carry some burdens alone. How soon will this conversations begin? Will the generation of my time atleast educate their children?
